Managed the development of the Scitex CataLogic project — a database publishing system for the catalog publishing market. Responsibilities included researching needs, design and definition of the product, and managing the R&D team. Coordinated preparation for Beta sites, documentation, and more.
🏆 Seybold Award of Excellence · March 1994Managed the development of the Scitex Echo remote proofing system. Responsibilities included market research, product definition and design, managing the R&D effort, and coordinating Beta testing, production logistics, and writing of the user manual.
Product received rave reviews at the Imprinta show and the Seybold seminar.
Defined the feature set and designed the user interface for all Macintosh-based applications, as well as other platform systems, developed by Scitex companies.
In all projects, the design process was based on extensive contacts with customers and potential customers. Responsibilities included understanding the needs, defining the feature set, and communicating the design to the R&D team. Reported to VP R&D.
Designed the complete Scitex product line, first shown at Drupa 1986. Product line included 5 workstations, plotters, scanners, and accompanying furniture. During this period all Scitex products were designed by the industrial design group — a two-person team. Reported to the corporate manager of user interface design.
Gathered information for the marketing group and provided feedback to the R&D project team for the Scitex Vista — the world's first design-to-production workstation. Traveled worldwide to Vista customer sites, understanding workflow issues, providing training, and acting as liaison between customers and R&D. Reported to the manager of marketing, Pre-press division.
A consulting firm providing design services across industrial design (furniture, automotive, exhibitions, packaging) and software development. Projects followed from conceptualization through production. Software projects included:
· Point-of-purchase furniture design software system
· Data collection system for intensive care units (Sharp PC 1500)
· Data collection system for municipal water meters (Sharp PC 1500)
· Font editors for dot-matrix printers
Instructed college courses in industrial design and the use of computers in the design environment. Set up the school's computer shop.
